Tripoli, Libya: When protestors reached the headquarters of the Tripoli-based militia, the al-Nsour Battalion, militia members open fire on the crowd spurring armed clashes between those loyal to the official security service and the militias and conflict in the city.

المختصر/ أعلنت وزارة الصحة الليبية الجمعة مقتل 31 شخصا وإصابة 285 آخرين إثر اشتباكات أعقبت مظاهرات معارضة لمجموعة مسلحة في العاصمة الليبية طرابلس اثر فتح مسلحين النار على المتظاهرين، حسبما قال مسؤولون.

وكان مئات الأشخاص قد احتشدوا في حي الغرغور جنوبي المدينة للاحتجاج على سيطرة ميليشيا مصراته على هذا الموقع.وبعد ساعات من الحادث، اقتحم مسلحون المجمع، حيث ما زال اعضاء الميليشيا محتجزين.

جاء ذلك في وقت تدور فيه اشتباكات بين قوات تابعة للأجهزة الأمنية الرسمية وعناصر كتيبة النسور بمحيط المنطقة

وفيما طالبت الحكومة جميع المواطنين بالهدوء والابتعاد عن المظاهر المسلحة، دعا رئيس الوزراء الليبي علي زيدان جميع المليشيات المسلحة إلى مغادرة العاصمة.

بدوره، رجح وزير الصحة الليبي نور الدين دغمان في تصريحات تلفزيونية مساء الجمعة ارتفاع حصيلة الضحايا نظرا لوجود عدد كبير من الإصابات الخطيرة.

وحدث إطلاق النار عندما اقترب متظاهرون من مقر الكتيبة في حي غرغور وسط طرابلس، حيث بدأ مسلحون من الكتائب بإطلاق النار في الهواء لتفريق المتظاهرين، قبل أن يوجهوه إليهم عندما واصلوا سيرهم تجاه مقر الكتيبة. إلى ذلك، وقعت اشتباكات بالأسلحة المتوسطة ومضادات الطائرات بين قوات تابعة لبعض الأجهزة الأمنية الرسمية وبين كتيبة النسور في المنطقة نفسها، ردا على إطلاق نار على متظاهرين أمام مقر الكتيبة، ومن جهتها، تحاول القوات المحاصرة لكتيبة النسور إخراجها من المقر التي تتمركز فيه.

al-Mokhtsar – The Libyan Minister of Health announced a total of 31 dead and 285 wounded as a result of clashes between opposition protestors and armed groups in the capital of Libya, Tripoli. Armed groups opened fire on the protestors according to official sources.

Hundreds of people crowded in the neighbourhood al-Gharghur in the south of the city to protest over control of the Misurat militia over this area.

A few hours after the incident armed men stormed into the compound, where members of the militia remain.

During this time, clashes occurred between followers of the official security forces and members of the al-Nsour (Eagle) Battalion in the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, the government demands that all civilians remain calm and stay away from any manifestations of violence. The Libyan Prime Minister, ‘Ali Zaidan, called on all militias to leave the capital.

In turn, the Libyan Minister of Health, Nour ad-Din Daghman, in various television statements on Friday night, said there was likely to be a rise in victims, in view of the presently large number of seriously wounded.

When the protestors neared the headquarters of the Battalion in the al-Gharghur neighbourhood in the centre of Tripoli, armed men from the battalion fired into the air to disperse the protesters, before clashing with the protestors when they reached the battalion headquarters.

Moreover, clashes occurred with medium-sized arms and anti-aircraft weapons between forces loyal to the security services and the al-Nasour Battalion. In response to the firing on protestors in front of the battalion headquarters, besieging forces are attempting to remove the al-Nsour Battalion from their headquarters.

The government stressed in a press conference chaired by ‘Ali Zidan and a number of other ministers, that all militias should leave Tripoli without any exception. Armed factions demanded an immediate cessation of fire and a commitment to a truce, further stressing the need to not release statements that may initiate ‘fitna’ (sectarian violence.)
