About

Thank you for visiting the blog!

The Edinburgh Arabic Initiative was launched by a group of Masters candidates from the University of Edinburgh’s Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies Department, and Centre for Advanced Study of the Arab World (CASAW). It is a method of allowing participants to improve their translation skills and develop a deeper understanding of the Middle East and the relevant political, social, economic and cultural developments.

The Edinburgh Arabic Initiative is not a formal organization and it does not espouse a political motive, rather, it aims to expose non-Arabic speakers, academics and interested individuals to Arabic media and primary sources in order to improve research and further cultivate understanding.

If you have any requests for translations, or other questions, do not hesitate to contact the webmaster via the comments section or at edinburghinitiative@gmail.com.

You can also check us out on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr, or study vocabulary with us on Quizlet.

Note: Sources consist of open source reporting, analysis, opinion, and commentary from news organizations, think tanks, blogs, and other sources. These are articles of interest; translation is not endorsement.
