‘Ansar Beit al-Maqdis pledges allegiance to ISIS emir Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi,’ el-Balad (Egypt), 30 June 2014

The militant Islamist group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has pledged bay’ah (allegiance) to the emir of the newly declared Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi (now also known as Caliph Ibrahim). In the past, the group has been responsible for multiple terrorist attacks on Egyptian soil, mainly in the restive Sinai peninsula. In addition to this pledge of allegiance, the group has also claimed responsibility for the kidnap and murder of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank. The new Islamic State, declared after major territorial gains were achieved in Iraq over the past three weeks, has called on all Muslims to pledge allegiance to its leader, which will certainly cause a strain with mainstream al-Qaeda, which disavowed the group earlier this year over its tactics.–

أعلنت الصفحة غير الرسمية لجماعة “أنصار بيت المقدس” على موقع التواصل الاجتماعى إتمام البيعة لمن أطلقوا عليه “خليفة المسلمين أبو بكر البغدادي

وأوضحت الجماعة فى تغريدة لها على موقع التواصل الاجتماعى “تويتر” تغيير مسمى أنصار بيت المقدس إلى الدولة الإسلامية؛ حيث قالت: “بعد إِعلان خليفة المسلمين أبو بكر البغدادي لجميع الإِخوة المجاهدين فسيتم إلغاء مسمي أنصار بيت المقدس لتبقي الدولة الإِسلامية

وأضافت: “سمعا وطاعا لأميرنا البغدادي فقد تمت البيعة بدون نقاش وعلي المجاهدين بمصر البيعة ومن خالف لن يضرنا شيئا ولكن لاعذر له والله ولي التوفيق

The unofficial social networking page of the group “Ansar Beit al-Maqdis” announced it has pledged allegiance to so-called Caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

In a tweet, by the group on Twitter, the group explained that it is changing its name of “Ansar Beit al-Maqdis” to the Islamic State. The group said: “After the Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s statement to all mujahidin, the the name Ansar Beit al-Maqdis will be canceled in order to become the Islamic State.”

They added: “We are at the service of our Emir, Baghdadi. There was no discussion in pledging allegiance and all mujahidin in Egypt must pledge allegiance. Whoever violates the pledge of allegiance will cause us no harm but there is no excuse for him as Allah is the Arbiter of Success.”
