Breaking: 14 soldiers killed in Ansar al-Sharia ambush in Wadi Hadramawt
8 August 2014
Hadramawt – Special Report:
Fourteen Yemeni soldiers lost their lives in an ambush carried out by Ansar al-Sharia this Friday evening in the city of al-Houta in Wadi Hadramawt, eastern Yemen.
An Ansar al-Sharia media correspondent in Wadi Hadramawt explained that the mujahideen spotted a bus carrying soldiers from the Yemeni Houthi army and stopped it along the main road in al-Houta “Houtat Shibam,” near the city of Seiyun, the capital of Wadi Hadramawt. He indicated that the mujahideen disembarked the soldiers and investigated them, confirming their affiliation with central military units in Seiyun from their military IDs.
The correspondent added: “After that, the mujahideen led them to the market where they delivered a speech to the audience, clarifying that the captured soldiers had participated in the most recent military campaign against Sunnis in Wadi Hadramawt; the mujahideen then decided to kill them as appropriate punishment for their crimes and for fighting in the Houthi army.”
It should be noted that the ambush came one day after Ansar al-Sharia’s raid of military and security headquarters and centres in the cities of Seiyun and al-Qoton in Wadi Hadramawt.
