A group of Moroccan politicians and law makers are seeking to press charges against IDF Southern Command leader Major General Sami Turgeman for his role in the current Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip. ‘Video: Ansar Beit al-Maqdis targets Israel with 5 rockets,’ Al-Masry Al-Youm (Egypt), 12 July 2014

Egyptian terrorist organisation Ansar Beit al-Maqdis posted a video to YouTube in which it appears the group fires five rockets into Israeli territory from their border position in the Sinai peninsula. While the video cannot be independently verified, the group has claimed previous attacks in the past, and the latest claim comes as Israel continues its bombardment of the Gaza Strip (Operation Protective Edge). The current operation has led to over 120 deaths and retaliatory rocket fire from Hamas. Additionally, rockets were fired into northern Israeli on Friday morning from unidentified militants in southern Lebanon. The current violence is the worst since Operation Pillar of Defense in November 2012.

‘Data: 88% of energy consumed in Palestine imported from Israel,’ Quds Press (Palestine), 20 March 2014

With World Water Day approaching (22 March 2014) new data published by Palestine Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) show that over a quarter of water consumed in Palestine domestically is purchased from Israel’s national water company Mekerot. Palestinians are denied access to water sources, while Israel pumps water from underground aquifers under Palestinian land. ‘Israel announces discovery of “suspicious” balloon in northern Gaza,’ Palestine Online (Gaza), 20 March 2014

‘Gaza – Mass demonstration rejects negotiations and Kerry’s plan,’ Ma’an (Palestine), 7 February 2014

Thousands of Palestinians demonstrated in the Gaza Strip today, answering a call by Islamic Jihad and Hamas to reject the current negotiations with Israel, as well as US Secretary of State John Kerry’s current peace plan. Hamas and Islamic Jihad do not recognized Israel’s right to exist, and as such does not believe in negotiating with the enemy.
